Nicholas Blavat, AIA is our New Owner – Meet the Leadership Team

This marks a significant milestone in our 25-year journey and reflects a leadership vision set in motion over five years ago when Nick became a partner alongside founder, Richard Sherer.

With over 20 years at Deep River, Nick’s steady rise through the firm reflects his lasting commitment to design innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. His guidance has supported and contributed to the growth of the team and the company. He has led design efforts on award-winning residential projects, strengthening our ties to the wider profession and community. He is a leader in the American Institute of Architects and committed to mentoring emerging talent. Nick’s passion for design and client service will continue to sustain the firm’s reputation for delivering finely crafted, luxury residential projects.

“This firm was built on a remarkable foundation,” said Blavat. “I’m honored to continue shaping that legacy and excited for what is ahead. Our story will continue—with creativity, dedication, and a focus on design excellence for clients.”

Richard Sherer, Founder

Richard established Deep River Partners on the principles of design excellence, client service, and collaboration. As he steps back from ownership, he will continue to serve clients, design schematic visions, and contribute creatively; Richard’s legacy remains deeply embedded in the firm’s culture and values.

“Nick consistently shows dedication to our company in any area that needs attention,” says Sherer. “His unwavering commitment to our clients, design innovation, and mentorship of our team have helped shape Deep River into the respected firm it is today.”

Meet the Leadership Team

The ownership transition has been implemented over the past year to ensure continuity for clients, staff, and collaborators. Projects continue to move forward with the same precision and collaborative spirit that define Deep River’s work. The firm remains focused on delivering architecture, interior design, and furnishings for luxury single-family projects that reflect each client’s lifestyle and vision.
