Set on a 1.2-acre coveted waterfront site on Lake Michigan, this custom modern Tudor home was designed as a casually elegant seasonal retreat for a homeowner returning for summers by the lake. With sweeping views, spacious gathering areas, and thoughtful aging-in-place features, the home balances its iconic architectural style with everyday comfort, making it a welcoming destination for hosting family and friends throughout every season.
Design Vision
The exterior reimagines classic Tudor massing through a warm, natural palette and clean, modern detailing. Dramatic gables flank the entry, creating an instantly recognizable silhouette, while metal roof accents in a refined gunmetal finish add a contemporary edge.
Inside, the aesthetic remains intentionally streamlined with trim-free drywall returns, the absence of crown molding, and light-stained white oak floors, keeping the interior architecture feeling fresh and uncluttered. Overhead, expressed metal collar ties define the interior peaks and visually anchor the expansive volumes, emphasizing ceiling heights that soar beyond 20 feet in the office, dining, and pavilion.
Crafted Interiors
From the moment you enter, the home is designed to connect you both visually and emotionally to its surroundings. Modern and vintage elements are thoughtfully layered throughout. The foyer offers a clear view through to the lake beyond, with welcoming seating, lantern-inspired sconces, woven textures, and custom commissioned art setting a relaxed, camp-meets-luxury style.
