The Lake Country Retreat project is designed for generations to enjoy—welcoming, timeless, and tailored for life at the lake. Thoughtfully planned for effortless daily living and year-round entertaining, it also features elements that will gracefully adapt to aging in place and comfort. Rooted in natural materials—copper accents, limestone steps, cedar shingles, and a mix of local and regional stone—the home embodies a coastal-inspired presence along this Wisconsin shoreline.
Lifestyle Considerations
Stepping into the Foyer, the design themes set the tone for elegance with traditional millwork, crisp white paneling, and expansive windows that flood the space with natural light. Natural white oak floors, a stacked staircase design, and an elevator provide easy circulation across three levels, completing a timeless design built for generations. Airy, open, and connected to the lake, the Great Room captures the spirit of coastal living with bright white tongue and groove ceiling panel framed by beams to set the design theme throughout. Each space is defined, yet the floorplan’s open sightlines create a seamless sense of connection and maximize the lake views from every angle. A unique three-sided Sunroom creates panoramic views to soak up the lake from sunrise to sunset. A pop-up TV hidden in the window bench and concealed automated shades transform the space from a relaxed lounge to a comfy viewing room.
Design Details
Vaulted ceilings are highlighted by the beautiful rhythm of the beams, giving the Kitchen a bright and spacious feeling. High end appliances, a farmhouse sink, wall ovens, and a walk-in pantry are arranged for efficient cooking and cleanup. A custom hood and tile backsplash bring beautiful traditional detail and character. The island takes center stage with an uninterrupted solid quartzite countertop, giving the island a clean, table-like feel that is perfect for casual meals and conversation.
The Butler’s Pantry is the ultimate entertaining alley, outfitted with a sink, wine refrigeration, coffee station, and plenty of storage to keep gatherings running smoothly. Tucked between the Great Room and Dining Room, windows at either end and glass-front cabinets give the narrow pantry a spacious feel and beautiful display for glassware and serving pieces.
Taking in the Lake Country Retreat from the private dock, it’s clear this home takes full advantage of its setting. Stretching across the width of the lot, views are enjoyed from every interior living space, and the cable rail maintains the views when enjoying time on the deck. The property grading was carefully considered to create a walk-out lower level for easy lake access, supporting multi-generational living, and to support aging in place.
