Design Vision
The family Room was brightened with a new paint palette for the walls and millwork, refinished wood floors, and updated lighting. Custom furnishings created new seating arrangements and new window treatments contributed to the space’s revitalized feel. The newly painted mantle better highlights the fireplace, and new wall sconces balance layered lighting for a gathering space that is more welcoming and connected to the home’s overall style. What was once a boldly colored space with only wall hooks and cramped shoe storage is now a functional Mudroom that offers an organized space for every member of the family. A custom built-in locker system and redesigned shoe room with seating create a place for everything so that each day begins with efficiency and ease.
The main suite received a complete reimagining, including the bedroom, closet, and bathroom. In the bedroom, the goal was to lighten the space and introduce visual interest. A vaulted ceiling was desired, but not feasible due to existing structure constraints. Instead, a bulky soffit was removed in favor of architectural ceiling beams accented by subtle lighting bringing character and a sense of elevation. An accent wall was introduced behind the bed, featuring a navy corduroy wallcovering for a touch of texture and depth. The suite’s closet transformation addressed inefficiencies in the previous layout. What had been two separate closets flanking a narrow hall to the bath were combined into one unified, accessible space. Pocket doors now connect the bedroom to the closet and the closet to the bath, improving circulation and allowing for a streamlined daily routine.
The bathroom underwent the most dramatic transformation. Outdated fixtures, including a bulky corner tub and small corner shower, were replaced with a sleek layout prioritizing wellness and function. The new design features a freestanding soaking tub, private Water Closet, and a spacious roll-in shower with body sprays and electrochromatic glass for privacy on demand. A floating double vanity with improved lighting gained space from a former linen closet. New cabinetry, a coffee station, a heated towel bar and floors elevate the room’s comfort, while cove lighting around the existing skylight provides a soft evening glow.
Through these design solutions, a fresh sophistication to the home is achieved that feels as functional as it is beautiful to carry the family forward for years to come.
