Mid-Century Modern Remodel, Mequon, WI
Architecture, Interior Design & Furnishings
This mid-Century modern design is characterized by clean simplicity with the integration of nature. The overall color palettes used throughout are white, gray, and sand.
Strong horizontal details such as door and cabinet hardware, the use of ledge stone at the bar and fireplace, exaggerated mantel, and raised hearth create cohesiveness across the space. The entry to the home opens to the two-story Great Room that feels more human-scale by using area rugs and furniture groupings to break down space. The visuals placed above the fireplace emphasize the details on the wall. The decorative light fixture visually lowered the ceiling and added more depth to the space. Elements of natural material combined with organic, geometric and horizontal patterns show the integration of nature. All furniture has historical or European provenance adds to the mid-Century modern style and limited use of the accent color orange to subtly link rooms together.
The flow of the floor plan enabled effortless entertaining from the Great Room, Kitchen and Dining Room. The bridge crossing over the Great Room allows privacy for guests as it led to the guest bedroom suite. Comfort and amenity are front and center and the design embodies a high standard of aesthetically pleasing materials assembled in a way that speaks the mid-Century modern style.
